Principal's speech on 26th January 2017
My dear Beloved staff & students,
I
first salute my great mother land of 29 states and 7 union territories &
welcome you all to celebrate the 68th Republic day of our country.
This great country built on the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the
intellectual & hard working people is now marching ahead at a rapid pace.
Indians are marching together like never before towards peace, progress &
prosperity. It is a youth led development that is going on.
Imperial
British Rule imposed over India ceased to exist post August 15, 1947 when our
nation attained freedom and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was made the interim Prime
Minister. But the nation was incomplete. It was still following the procedures,
penal codes, regulations and laws which were inherited from Her Majesty’s
regime. Although the nation had turned sovereign (recognized as independent
entity), it took another 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to turn India into a
complete democratic, constitutional republic.
On January 26, 1950, the Constitution prepared by the Drafting
Committee headed by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was enacted and put into force. The day
is marked as the birth of modern India. The forefathers of the nation prepared
the constitution after facing the tedious task of taking into consideration the
concerns of hundreds of ethnic communities, multiple religious segments and
regional tribes. Our country is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic
republic with the human rights of justice, equality, liberty & fraternity
to all its citizens.
Swami Vivekananda said “Education
is the manifestation of the perfection already in man”& all of us here are
in the field of Technical Education. This is the right time for all of us to
contribute for the development of the country. Consider the great men of our
country as our role models & march ahead. This is the time students should
concentrate on their own skill development & improvement of self-confidence.
Though our country is progressing, the common man is still struggling for
livelihood, justice & happiness. There are divisive forces in the name of
region, religion; caste etc. people are to be broad minded. They should not
group & quarrel in the name of Film personalities. All of us need to
cooperate with one another & maintain good relationships. Let me tell you
some of the recent developments in our country & state in the right
direction.
India
is emerging as a strong digital economy. We have 35 crores of internet users,
100 cr + mobiles, 109cr+ Aadhaar cards, 100cr+ bank accounts. There is a major
financial revolution as we shift from a cash-dependent to cashless economy. We
look forward to better social equity, availability of more resources for development
work through higher revenue collection, eradication of counterfeit currency, a
reduction in illegal transactions and a curb on black money. The faculty, staff
& students are the engines of change and we participate by explaining this
to villagers, in grama sabhas & conducted rallies. We tried to dispel the
belief that digital transactions are not complex and smart phone & internet
connectivity are not essential for all transactions. We explained about the
debit cards, prepaid cards, USSD, AEPS, UPI, Mobile wallets & BHIM – Bharat
interface for money. We motivated people to go from paper money to digital
money. I congratulate students & staff for this excellent contribution.
Students should also be aware of computing skills and modern technologies like
cloud computing, IOT, and data analytics to march ahead with the development in
our country.
The second is
smart India hackathon 2017 in which students are given opportunity to come out
with ideas and solutions for various problems in our country as part of project
work. This I say is another revolution in the thinking process & the
development of students. I found 598 problem statements of many depts. /
central ministries. Already students of various engg. colleges in our country
have made submission to each problem statements. I request the staff also to go
through this opportunity. It’s really amazing & Innovative. The web site
for this is innovate.mygov.in/sih2017.
The expectation of the students who live in
the age of facebook & twitter & whatsapp is very high. So teachers have
to use innovative methods in class room teaching & use the online
resources. The stage is set for online teaching and learning experience by
massive open online courses (MOOC). These aim at unlimited participation and
open access to teachers & students through the web. The Swayam program of
MHRD & AICTE with the help of Microsoft is going to reach every student in
every corner. Swayam will have 2000 courses and 80,000 hours of learning. All
the courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and
are available free of cost. Ours is India’s sunrise state. The state government
is keen on integrating technology in class room teaching and wants student
leaders for our socio economic development. My today’s speech on this occasion
can be read in the blog spot of our website gpadk.edu.in and the photographs
may be viewed in the gallery of the website. Things are transparent and within
our reach. You have to reach them in the process of learning.
I appreciate the
students who are actively participating in ODF activity, Janmabhoomi- maa vuru,
plantation of saplings for Haritha Andhra Pradesh etc. & for all these
activities I thank the staff for their commitment. As the head of the
institute, I receive instructions through sms/mails at a speed slightly less
than the speed of light & sound & unless you support me we cannot have
a dynamic environment in our campus. Coming to our academic activities you have
unit tests on 5th /15th March and board exams in the last
week of March. Only 50 days are left to learn as much as possible and come out
successfully in the exams. Work hard to reduce your back logs if any. Physical
activities are important in our life, so keep yourself fit with sports, games
& regular exercises.
For
our motherland, all are equal. Hate never, hurt never – help ever, love ever
& be happy for ever.
Jaihind.
